The Newark Police Department - Precincts

2nd Precinct
The 2nd Precinct serves several diverse neighborhoods that comprise the "North Ward Community." Neighborhoods such as 7th Avenue, Upper and Lower Roseville, North Broadway, Lower Broadway, Mt. Pleasant, and Forest Hill all have a rich ethnic history of Italian, Hispanic, and African-American culture.

3rd Precinct
The 3rd Precinct is the "Pride of the Ironbound." Aptly named for its industrial area bounded by many rail yards, the East District is the largest geographical police district in the city covering 12 square miles, and is home to more than 60,000 residents.

4th Precinct
The 4th Precinct is located in the heart of Newark's Central Ward. The District is unique in that it encompasses two political wards, West and Central. The District covers 3.4 square miles and is home to neighborhoods such as Upper and Lower Vailsburg, Ivy Hill, West Side, Fairmount, Springfield, Belmont, and University Heights, with a residential population of more than 67,000.

5th Precinct
The 5th Precinct is home to a variety of residential neighborhoods and a substantial commercial corridor. The South covers 4 square miles with a population of 56,000. Some of the neighborhoods include South Broad Street, Dayton, Upper and Lower Clinton Hill, and Weequahic.
